Uniform Patrol Division: K-9 Operations
R.I.P Rambo
2004 - 2013
K-9 Officer Rambo lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, January 31, 2013. He was a good dog, a good partner and a great friend. We have lost a valuable member of the department and will miss him dearly. Rambo's partner Officer Fredendall took wonderful care of him and remained at his side until the end. While Rambo's life was too short, only 8 years old, he packed a lot of energy into it! Rambo was trained to be a police K-9, and he did his job well. He spent his life doing what he loved, serving and protecting this community.

Officer Mike Fredendall is the K-9 handler for the Springfield Police Division. He and Rambo, our current canine, completed a 200 hour course together in 2006. Mike and Rambo are State of Ohio certified and must re-certify every two years. They formally train together on a weekly basis, but informally train daily. Together they have been very successful in locating large amounts of drugs and drug related money.
