Karen Duncan was Marketing and Resource Development Director for Neighborhood Housing Partnership of Greater Springfield, Inc. prior to taking office in January 2006. She also coordinated the partnership's Cultivating Neighborhoods initiative, which enhances the landscapes of contiguous front yards in targeted neighborhoods in Springfield.
Karen graduated from Wittenberg University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. She has been married to Ron Duncan since 1965; and they have three adult children, Ronald Jr., Daniel, and Anna Duncan Ingram, and seven grandchildren.
Karen has previously worked for the Juvenile Court, the Municipal Court, the Ohio Secretary of State's office, and has been a small business owner. She has a history of community involvement, currently serving on the Community Hospital Health Services Foundation, College Hill Neighborhood Association, and is a Master Gardener.
Ms. Duncan is in her third consecutive four-year term as City Commissioner. She served as assistant mayor of Springfield in 2008 and 2009.
Ms. Duncan represents the City Commission on the following boards:

- Keep Clark County Beautiful Advisory Board
